National politics is not in a comfortable state: Ruhul Kabir Rizvi
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “I think that national politics is not in a comfortable state. Through the bloody movement that led to the fall of a terrible bloodthirsty monster on August 5. Then the people of this country expected that a comfortable and peaceful political environment would be created. That expectation of the people is still there, it has not ended yet. But somewhere I think, does anyone have any motive? Such talk about some issues is not desirable for the people.”
National politics is not in a comfortable state: Ruhul Kabir Rizvi
He said this as the chief guest at the financial assistance and auto-rickshaw distribution program for the families of the martyrs and injured in the mass uprising in Jamalpur organized by ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ at the Dewanganj Girls High School ground in Jamalpur on Wednesday afternoon. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “There are two or three political parties that have also staged a movement. But there is one thing called the point of no return, they cannot back down from that, that has to happen. They staged a movement. So what have we done? In 16 years, MPs, elected representatives, youth leaders have gone missing. Missing, murdered, bodies of many of our leaders and activists have been found on the banks of the Ichamati, Madhumati and Shitalakshya rivers. Facing this terrible fascist regime, the ground that the national leaders Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman created for the July-August coup, have all of these been in vain? All of these have become lies.’
The BNP leader said, ‘Today, the reform commission was formed. They are sitting. Everyone is in agreement on many issues. On some issues, they disagree. This is the way of democracy. But first you give proposals, then you give conditions. What kind of brother is this? You have proposed, PR-proportional elections. But many people in this country do not know what PR is. That has to be brought in by force. They did not introduce it long ago.’
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also said, ‘PR has never been discussed before. There has been no discussion at any level. Intellectuals, civil society, they never said this. Suddenly, PR or proportional voting will have to be done. They have started coercion. They will not accept it without this, they will not go to the elections. Brother, it was not like that. People are not familiar with this concept. But two or three political parties have started demanding it from their uncle’s house.’
The event was presided over by Atiqur Rahman, convener of the ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ organization. BNP’s media cell convener Professor Moudud Hossain, BNP treasurer M Rashiduzzaman (Millat), Jamalpur district BNP president Faridul Kabir Talukder, general secretary Shah Md. Wares Ali Mamun and others spoke at the event.
